Pronove Tai & Associates play a part in sustaining Indang’s livelihood
Pronove Tai & Associates, through the De La Salle University’s One Million Trees and Beyond Project, recently conducted a tree planting activity in Barangay Bancod, Indang, Cavite. In partnership with the local community, Pronove Tai & Associates led in the planting of 300 Kaong seedlings.
The Kaong tree was picked specifically because its dense root system helps prevent erosion and also because it produces the sugar palm vinegar which is an important source of livelihood for the people of Indang.
“This activity serves not only as a means by which we can do something for the environment, but also to assist the community by providing them with a sustainable means of livelihood.” expressed Monique Pronove, Country Manager of Pronove Tai & Associates.
With only basic gardening tools in hand, the associates spent the better part of the morning planting the seedlings under the supervision of the more experienced volunteers of the One Million Trees and beyond Project. Several members of the community were also there to lend their hands.
“It’s tiring, but the effort is definitely worthwhile and fun!” Marlena Pagalilauan, an associate added.
Pronove Tai and Associates’ Corporate Social Responsibility thrust is to contribute to solving social issues through Community-Driven Development Programs. With this new endeavor, Pronove Tai & Associates aims to take “giving back” to the next level. “We believe that it is not sufficient to provide people with short-term aid. It is far more exceeding to give them the opportunity and capability to provide for themselves.” Monique explains.
